Long before it was associated with a pun-loving skeleton, the track was born from a "bad ROM hack with swears". In 2008, a young Toby Fox created the EarthBound Halloween Hack , where the protagonist, Varik, journeys into the twisted mind of Dr. Andonuts. The story of isn't just about a boss
The song was remixed for the massive webcomic Homestuck , specifically for the character Vriska Serket, cementing its status as a "final battle" anthem. The Evolution: Through Time and Space Long before
The version most people know today is pitched up and faster, appearing only in the "Genocide" route. The Judgment: A Hero's Stand
The melody didn't stop there. Like a signature, Toby Fox wove it into his later works, each iteration refining its high-energy chiptune soul:
