Craig, Kelsey, J.P., and Omar continue their quest for the puzzle pieces needed to find the Heart of the Forest. Their journey leads them to , a secluded area where the resident kids behave like Non-Player Characters (NPCs) in a video game.
The climax involves a turn-based battle against the mosquitoes. During the conflict, Omar temporarily becomes "Blood Omar" after being "poisoned" by the dragons. He admits that he finds the scripted, predictable nature of the RPG world comforting compared to the uncertainty of his role as the Green Poncho. The village is plagued by "Blood Dragons"—which are actually just massive swarms of mosquitoes—that demand the villagers leave the swamp. To obtain the next piece of the puzzle cube, the "Stump Kids" must play along with the village's RPG logic.
