The first half of the season centers on Bishamon’s intense hatred for Yato, which stem from a long-past event where Yato slaughtered her entire previous retinue of Regalia. The narrative reveals that this wasn't just murder; she was being consumed by a Phantom born from her inability to stop taking in spirits, making her sick.
