was a moment in time where rural roots met the acceleration of the modern age—a snapshot of a community strengthening its bonds through charity and celebration, even while facing environmental and agricultural challenges.
Based on the September 1980 issue of De Hoogstraatse Gazet (nr 35),
Galerie "De Drie Berken" in Pulsebaan 50, Wechelderzande, held art exhibitions, highlighting the local commitment to culture.
Furthermore, agricultural challenges were present, with the fokveedag ( livestock day ) delayed due to foot-and-mouth disease ( morid- en klauwieer ), showcasing the precarious nature of rural life in 1980.
