Elias clicked it. His monitor flickered to black. For a long minute, he thought his system had crashed, but then a faint, grainy video feed appeared. It looked like a security camera aimed at a pitch-black room.
The video feed on the screen suddenly changed. The camera flipped. Elias saw the back of his own head, sitting in his chair, illuminated by the glow of the screen. And in the darkness of the room behind him, reflected in the monitor’s glass, dozens of pale eyes began to open. The archive wasn't a game. It was an invitation.
