Elias gripped the mouse, his knuckles white. He skipped ahead to 24.jpg .
It was the same shot, but he was half-turned toward the door, as if he’d heard a noise. He remembered that noise. He’d chalked it up to the house settling.
Elias clicked download without thinking. He and his friends had spent July in a cabin near Lake Tahoe, and they’d all been pestering each other to dump their camera rolls into a shared drive. He assumed this was Sarah’s way of being "efficient."
