(released October 26, 2010) shifted the long-running hunting franchise away from traditional simulation and toward a darker, narrative-driven first-person action-adventure. Published by Activision, the game introduced a surprisingly intense story featuring supernatural horror elements and aggressive predators that actively hunt the player. Narrative & Setting
The campaign, written by Fringe screenwriter Brad Santos, follows as he joins his estranged father, Samson, on an African safari. The plot is a dark tale of survival and family legacy, beginning with a prologue in 1982 involving a legendary "demonic" hyena known as the Kaftar . Over the course of the game, players face off against "possessed" wildlife—including lions, rhinos, and packs of red-eyed wolves—that have been biologically or supernaturally altered to be hyper-aggressive.
