Set in the year 2104, the story follows the colonization ship Covenant , which is transporting 2,000 colonists and 1,140 embryos to a distant planet, Origae-6. After a solar flare damages the ship, the crew—led by the newly appointed Captain Oram (Billy Crudup) and terraforming expert Daniels (Katherine Waterston)—diverts to a nearby uncharted planet that appears even more habitable than their original destination.
