The figure on the screen was watching a video of someone watching a video.
The graininess of the footage cleared. A figure stepped into the frame from the left. It was wearing a heavy grey coat, the hood pulled low. The figure didn't try the handle or knock. It simply stood there, staring at the wood of Elias’s door.
In the video, the figure reached into a pocket and pulled out a small, metallic cylinder.
Elias froze. He glanced at the bottom right of his computer screen. Today was April 29, 2026. The time on the video timestamp was 04:02 AM. He looked at his clock again. 04:01 AM.
The video ended, the player window closing itself automatically.
Then, his phone buzzed. A new notification appeared on the lock screen from an unknown sender: "24169.mp4 is now recording."
